Kimosho Follows Up on Kazo Killings as Police Probe Intensifies
Kazo County MP Kimosho is stepping up follow-up on a series of killings in Kazo district, after raising the security concerns with police and seeking action to protect residents.
In his latest statement on Wednesday, September 16, Kimosho said he had formally written to Uganda Police Force headquarters over the recent killings in the district.
He said the intervention was followed by a visit by regional police leadership to Kazo, where security officials held a meeting with key stakeholders to address the escalating concerns.
Kimosho said investigations into the killings are now underway and confirmed that some suspects are already in custody.
The MP said he is closely monitoring the progress of the investigations and will continue updating residents as more developments emerge.
His latest follow-up comes after he raised the alarm on X on September 4 over what he described as “serious security concerns” in Kazo District.
Kimosho said six people had been killed within one month, citing incidents in Engari and Nkungu sub-counties and a more recent killing and stabbing in Kanoni.
He also raised concerns over what he described as a disturbing pattern in which victims were allegedly decapitated, saying the incidents had left residents living in fear.
Among the victims he mentioned was student Nimusima Caroline, whom he said was killed in a similar manner.
Kimosho called on the police, Uganda People's Defence Forces, Internal Security Organisation and other security agencies to investigate the killings, apprehend those responsible and strengthen security in Kazo and surrounding areas.
Police investigations remain ongoing, while authorities are yet to publicly provide further details about the suspects reportedly in custody or disclose whether the separate incidents are connected.
