Katugunda Becomes PLU PO 023 Backs Muhoozi and Calls for Patriotism

The Chairperson of Kazo district, Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda has expressed gratitude following his appointment as a Patriotic Officer (PO 023) in the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

While speaking with journalists today at his office at the district headquarters, Katugunda thanked the PLU Chairman, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces and the entire PLU team for recognizing him. He described the recognition as an honour and a call to further serve the nation.

He further pledged his full commitment to advancing the ideals of PLU, particularly patriotism, national unity and the fight against corruption.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this patriotic number. I commit myself to serving our nation and promoting the values of PLU,” Katugunda said.

A seasoned political leader, Katugunda previously served as the LC5 Chairperson of Kiruhura district before becoming the chairperson of Kazo district which was carved out of Kiruhura in 2019. He is widely known among locals by several nicknames, including “Professor,” “Sebururu,” “Nyamwinganiza,” and “Rutaryanguzi,” reflecting his popularity and connection with the community.

Katugunda also praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership and for raising Gen. Muhoozi, whom he described as a visionary leader aligned with national development goals.

He called on the youth, especially in Kazo district, to embrace patriotism and actively participate in nation-building efforts through PLU.

“I urge all people to love their country and support leaders who are committed to fighting corruption and improving livelihoods,” he added.

Katugunda further revealed plans to organize celebrations in Kazo district in recognition of Gen. Muhoozi’s leadership, noting that local leaders are already coordinating the initiative.

Meanwhile, the PLU has officially assigned Patriotic Officer numbers to 20 new members, bringing the total to 40.

In a statement released by Secretary General David Kabanda, the numbers (PO 021 to PO 040) were personally designated by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

PO 031 – Mr. Joe Omara

PO 032 – Ms. Prisca Yoriyori

PO 033 – Hon. Jimmy Lwanga

Kabanda expressed satisfaction with the growing membership, noting that the numbering system reflects the organization’s structured expansion.

The Patriotic League of Uganda continues to strengthen its presence across the country, with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba directly overseeing the assignment of Patriotic Officer numbers.
