Ministry of Health Donates Motorcycle to Lamezia Health Centre III in Kazo District
The Ministry of Health has donated a brand-new motorcycle to Lamezia Health Centre III, located in Burunga Sub-county, Kazo district to strengthen health service delivery at the facility.
The motorcycle was allocated under a Public–Private Partnership arrangement supporting PNFP (Private Not-For-Profit) health facilities operating under the Mbarara Archdiocese. Government officials said the support is part of ongoing efforts to extend primary health care services and improve access to communities served by faith-based health facilities.
Speaking during the handover at the district headquarters, the District Health Officer, Dr. Edgar Kansiime, thanked the Ministry for the timely support. He said the motorcycle will be used to enhance health service delivery, including immunization outreaches, community health activities, disease surveillance, follow-up of patients and transportation of essential medicines when needed.
Ambrose Muhumuza the Principal Human Resource officer who represented the Chief Administrative Officer, urged Lamezia Health Centre III to use the motorcycle responsibly and strictly for its intended purposes as stipulated in the Ministry’s allocation letter. He added that the motorcycle will undergo all required administrative and registration procedures before full operational use.
Kazo district Chairperson (LCV), Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, welcomed the donation and called for continued engagement with the Ministry of Health. He said the district plans to write officially to Dr. Diana Atwine and her team to appreciate their consistent support to Kazo district. Katugunda noted that the Ministry through Dr. Atwine, has supported the district in several ways and pledged continued lobbying for more assistance where possible.
Representing the Archbishop, Fr. Ulbano Muhumuza, thanked the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health and Kazo district local government for the support extended to Lamezia Health Centre III. He assured leaders that the facility will use the motorcycle responsibly to improve health services for the surrounding communities.
