A team from the National Medical Stores (NMS) visited Kazo district local government to assess the delivery of medical services in the district.

The team was led by Dr. Shaban Abdullah, a board member of the National Medical Stores. Dr. Abdullah expressed gratitude to Kazo district for its cooperation with the NMS. He urged a united effort to combat the theft of drugs in government facilities and encouraged embracing automated systems to help prevent drug theft. He also commended Kazo district for consistently following procedures to protect government drugs and ensure timely delivery of medical supplies to health facilities.

The meeting was held at the offices of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Kazo district headquarters.

The Acting District Health Officer Esther Bully, thanked the National Medical Stores for their support and pledged that the district will continue to use government medicines responsibly. She also requested increased support from the NMS.

Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Keith Bahemuka, representing the CAO, welcomed and thanked the team. He emphasized that the district is committed to providing quality services to its people and appreciated the NMS for extending services and increasing the budget.

The LC5 Chairperson for Kazo District, Reverend Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, thanked the NMS team and acknowledged the increased budget allocation. However, he noted that while drugs are delivered, they sometimes do not meet the full demand of the community. He explained that neighboring districts also rely on Kazo for medical services, leading to higher demand and shortages. Reverend Katugunda appealed for additional funding to adequately serve both Kazo and its neighboring districts.

Deputy Resident District Commissioner Bazirio Paddy Mugisha highlighted the significant improvements in Kazo’s health sector. He promised to use government airtime to sensitize the public on health issues and disease prevention.
