Kasolo Represents Muhoozi at Kazo Mega Celebration as 2,000 Join PLU
State Minister for Microfinance and Small Enterprises Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo yesterday represented Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba during a colorful double celebration in Kazo district marking Gen. Muhoozi’s 52nd birthday run and a thanksgiving ceremony for the district’s overwhelming support to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the recently concluded general elections.
The celebrations, held at Kazo Model Playground, attracted hundreds of residents, leaders, youth and supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), who gathered to celebrate leadership, patriotism and community development.
Speaking at the event, Minister Kasolo delivered Gen. Muhoozi’s message of appreciation to the people of Kazo for their continued loyalty and support to the NRM government. He said the district’s reported 99.71 percent support in the elections reflected commitment to peace, unity and development.
As part of the celebrations, Kasolo planted a commemorative tree at the district headquarters on behalf of Gen. Muhoozi, symbolizing growth, resilience and environmental conservation. He also handed over Shs20 million contributed by Gen. Muhoozi to support community activities and strengthen mobilization efforts in the district.
Kazo district PLU Coordinator Daniel Tito and NRM district Chairperson Wilson Nkaija said the district was proud to celebrate Gen. Muhoozi because of what they described as his contribution to national stability and development.
Meanwhile, Kazo district LCV Chairperson Samuel Mugisha Katugunda (PO 023), said the celebrations began a day earlier with a town cleaning exercise in Kazo. He noted that activities included a birthday run, football matches, issuance of national identity cards and community engagement programmes among others
Katugunda expressed gratitude following his appointment as a Patriotic Officer in PLU, describing the recognition as both an honour and a call to further serve the nation. He also highlighted persistent water challenges in the district and appealed to government for support to improve access to clean water.
Kazo County Member of Parliament Hon.Dan Atwijukire Kimosho thanked Minister Kasolo for representing Gen. Muhoozi and praised residents for turning up in large numbers.
Kimosho described Gen. Muhoozi as a strong role model whose leadership continues to inspire many young people across Uganda. He said the birthday run reflected maturity, experience and continued commitment to national service and social transformation.
Addressing the youth, Minister Kasolo urged them to work hard and actively participate in government wealth-creation programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM). He also called on PLU coordinators across the district to prioritize service delivery and fight corruption.
In a message delivered by Kasolo, Gen. Muhoozi said the unity and patriotism demonstrated by the people of Kazo reflected hope for a stronger and more prosperous Uganda.
More than 2,000 people reportedly registered to join the Patriotic League of Uganda during the celebrations at Kazo Model Playground.
